Selling Your Home in Early 2019

Before you set the wheels in motion and decide to put your house on the market, consider the following suggestions. With an increase in inventory and new homes coming on after the New Year, your home has to shine and compete in the marketplace. Consider a pre-home inspection. This can highlight any issues that a future buyer may find upon inspection,  Making the repairs ahead of time may mean a higher price when you sell. Modernize your home by  replacing old appliances with stainless steel ones.  Replacing old counter tops with contemporary surfaces such as quartz and caesarstone and redoing hardwood floors will give a refreshed look.  Painting the house in a contemporary palette will also give a contemporary flair. Re-arrange your furniture so that the space flows naturally. In a some case, removing large chairs or sofas are  indicated to give the room a larger, less cluttered appearance. Remove old photos of family members  and place with a few contemporary photos. Hanging up abstract  and modern art will give the home a more youthful appeal. Remove old drapes and blinds to let in more natural light. Get organized and de-clutter spaces, shred any documents that you do not need. The exterior of the house is as important as the interior.  Check the roof, any slate tiles that have loosened, makes repairs to the wood trim if necessary and check the walkways for any needed masonry work. Make sure there are no tripping hazards. Prune old bushes and trees and keep landscaping about a foot away from the house so air can circulate around the home.
