In 1982, 150 residents of the unincorporated section of the town of Rye proposed to establish the Village of Rye Brook. It is located near parts of Greenwich and Portchester. Rye Brook is now a thriving, highly desirable community. There are several very active shopping centers and many office buildings. The Blind Brook school district is small, with one elementary school and a middle and high school on one campus. In nearby Portchester, there are many restaurants with various cuisines. It is convenient to the Hutchinson River Parkway, I-287 and I-95. It’s also minutes to Greenwich, Connecticut. Although there is no Metro North Station inside Rye Brook, there are stations only a 10-minute drive away, in the cities of Rye or Portchester.
