During your interview with the realtor ask the following questions:
How many years in the real estate business?
How many years of experience a realtor has can provide expertise for pitfalls and unexpected hurdles in buyer’s or seller’s experience? A professional with at least 5 years experience should be able to tell you how the market behaves and give you the best advice.
Is your realtor full-time or part-time?
This question will let you know how available your realtor is to you.
Do you represent more sellers or buyers?
Some agents have more experience on one side than the other and therefore might be a better fit some a person who needs more buying expertise than selling and vice versa.
How many homes did you sell last year vs how many you listed?
This is about the success of the real estate agent. Are they closing more than not? This will tell you about the time frame and what to expect from your agent.

How much does your agent know about your specific market and how are you positioned as a seller?
What’s your availability?
Make sure your agent is available by email, phone and text.

Specializing in a type of property may give you an edge in the selling process. Your agent will be able to give the best advice based on their individual expertise on a particular property type.
